PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The project scheduler is responsible for planning and scheduling for all the Capex projects activities for Rand Refinery, which includes the planning and scheduling for the Capex projects.
SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
The project schedule to indicate both internal and external resources that are required for executing the project.
Ensure that project schedule activities have the correct activities, with accurate durations allocated to the schedules.
Resource levelling is conducted the project schedules and updated accurately on the project schedule.
Complete packaging orders within the deadlines.
Understand the project critical path and how to manage the critical path.
Develop and analyse the network diagram for each project.
Communicate the project plans and schedules with management and functional teams.
Track the performance of the project schedule and where project is running late intervene to bring schedule back on track.
Assess the project schedule risks and mitigate the project schedule risk.
Work in conjunction with the Reliability planning department to check and integrate the Asset Care and project schedules.
Take accountability for planning and scheduling on all project activities to be executed across the entire operations.
Work in conjunction with the project engineers, project managers and engineering manager on project planning.
Participate in incident investigations.
All safety activities and tasks to be included on the project schedule.
Comply with and ensure that all health and safety rules are met and acts pro-actively by addressing any safety concerns which may be harmful to self or other employees.
Manage quality of the project scheduler that are produced.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Completed Matric qualification.
Minimum tertiary qualification - National diploma in Electrical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
Certificate on MS project (advanced) or similar.
A Degree in Engineering would be advantageous.
Completed recognised Trade certificate.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES :
Intermediate proficiency--Microsoft suite (Excel, Email, Word) and SAP.

KNOWLEDGE:
A good understanding of the processes in relating to project management / Maintenance of the plant equipment performance and administration.
Good knowledge of planning and scheduling on projects.
Knowledge of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
Knowledge of project budgeting and cost control
Ability to set-up, understand and work on shutdown plans.
Ability to create a project schedule on MS project and create status reports.
