The Role
As Production Order Manager, you'll lead the planning, costing, and execution of customer manufacturing orders - from scope definition to project completion. You'll coordinate across procurement, logistics, and production teams to ensure cost efficiency, schedule adherence, and full customer satisfaction. This is a hands-on, technical leadership role ideal for professionals with deep experience in heavy industry or rotating equipment environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee the end-to-end management of customer production orders, ensuring full alignment with company standards.
Develop detailed costing, resource, and production plans for all assigned projects.
Prepare accurate quotations, project documentation, and delivery forecasts.
Monitor order progress, analyse risks, and implement recovery or improvement plans when needed.
Collaborate with procurement and subcontractors to ensure on-time delivery of materials and parts.
Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, quality, and cost performance.
Report project performance against key KPIs, including OTD (on-time delivery) and cost control.
Qualifications & Experience
National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
5-10 years' experience in heavy engineering or job-shop manufacturing environments.
Solid exposure to turbines, compressors, CNC machining, and refurbishment operations.
Proven record of driving efficiency, resource utilisation, and production excellence.
Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of manufacturing and order management processes.
Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skills.
