SUMMARY:

POSITION INFO:
An established and reputable farming enterprise in the Patensie area is seeking a skilled and experienced Technical Production Manager to oversee and manage the technical functions of their citrus and greenhouse production operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring optimal crop performance, quality control, and compliance with agricultural standards.
Minimum Requirements:
A tertiary qualification in Agriculture or a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar technical farming role
Excellent computer literacy
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and monitor pest control programs
Design and manage planting programs for optimal yield
Monitor the quality and progress of greenhouse planting activities
Implement and oversee cultivar trials and ensure product quality
Manage procurement and application of fertilizers and pest control products
Supervise and develop technical staff
Manage compliance with farming audits such as Global GAP, Farming for the Future, DAFF, and SIZA Environmental
Develop, implement, and train staff on standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Draft and train on job descriptions
Ensure the application of disciplinary procedures when necessary
Work hours:
Monday - Friday: 07:00 - 17:00 and weekends on a rotation basis.
