Job Overview:
The Production manager is responsible for scheduling and coordinating all production activities to ensure projects run efficiently, meet deadlines, and adhere to budgets. This role handles the "paperwork" side of production (workshop manager): planning, reporting, and supporting smooth workflow between design, manufacturing, and management.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Planning (Scheduling & Deadlines):
Develop production schedules for all projects. Set and communicate deadlines to the Workshop Manager and team. Workshop manager will allocate his teams based on skills required.
Monitor progress on production timelines, ensuring that deadlines are met without compromising on quality.
Reporting & Communication:
Admin & Reporting:
progress and production reports. project status recons/sheets, timesheets, clockin/out schedules.
and highlight risks or delays.
Quality Control:
Ensure that the Workshop manager reports his daily quality controls issues. Estimated rework time to be provide daily to the Production planner on the employer/client/project/job type.
SOP Drafting & Workflow Optimization:
Working together with the Workshop manager, The Production manager will draft and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all key manufacturing processes, ensuring clarity and consistency in production standards.
Working together with the Workshop manager. Assist with analyzing and improving workflow processes to ensure efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance overall productivity.
Regularly review and update workflows to adapt to changing production demands, optimizing both time and resources.
Employer and onsite Installation Standin:
Assistance might be required to standin wherever needed from time to time to assist a project in distress.
Onsite installation/workshop oversite might be required from time to time.
Requirements:
Experience and Skills:
Strong knowledge of luxury joinery techniques, bespoke manufacturing, and high-end finishing standards.
Proficient in Microsoft word and excel (spreadsheets, timelines, gant charts etc)
Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Strong administrative skills (paperwork etc...)
Proficient in the use of both hand and power tools, with a deep understanding of advanced joinery techniques.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and designs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Senior Certificate (Matric).
Valid driver's license.
