Job Advert Summary

The purpose of this role is to oversee and manage production operations to ensure the successful achievement of daily operational targets. The incumbent will be accountable for leading and optimising production activities to consistently deliver high-quality products on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards. This role requires strategic planning, hands-on operational oversight, and a strong focus on continuous improvement to drive efficiency and overall production performance.

Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualification:
National Diploma in Production or Operations Management.
Technical Skills:

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
+ Strong understanding and practical application of Lean Manufacturing principles.
+ Experience with Syspro is advantageous.
Experience:

+ 10 to 15 years of proven experience in Production Management.
+ Minimum of 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role within a production environment.
+ Experience as a 16.2 Legal Appointee in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Duties & Responsibilities

Production Planning & Control

Ensure production SOPs are followed and regularly reviewed. Streamline workflows and monitor the daily production plan. Oversee production output and ensure targets are met. Manage and adjust the production schedule as needed. Address non-conformities with corrective actions. Set and track daily team performance targets. Proactively address underperformance. Ensure timely raw material replenishment.
Machine Performance

Ensure raw material availability for machine operation. Monitor and manage machine efficiency. Log machine issues and coordinate corrective actions with maintenance. Support planning for capacity expansion and equipment replacement.
Quality Control

Define and implement quality standards. Ensure all output meets quality requirements. Oversee the quality control process. Monitor quality performance and drive target achievement. Conduct root cause analysis to minimize rework and rejects. Identify and resolve production-related quality issues.
Staff Management

Motivate staff to meet productivity and quality targets. Ensure clear and regular team communication. Provide technical support to supervisors and team leaders. Address and improve absenteeism. Ensure accurate, timeous payroll submissions by supervisors. Control overtime and manage staff costs. Conduct performance reviews and support underperformers. Enforce compliance with all policies and procedures. Ensure effective staff utilization.
Continuous Improvement

Plan and lead improvement projects with staff involvement. Implement and track continuous improvement initiatives. Promote innovation and a culture of operational efficiency.
Production Reporting

Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly production reports. Compare actual vs. planned performance and address variances. Use data insights to support process improvements.
Health, Safety & Housekeeping

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Ensure timely waste removal across the plant. Enforce the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Ensure safety signs are visible and correctly placed. Correct unsafe conditions and behaviors promptly. Ensure all safety equipment is functional. * Promote a safety-conscious culture within the department.
