Introduction:
Komatsu South Africa is excited to announce a fantastic opportunity in the Operations Division for a Product Support and Sales Representative based in Pinetown. This role involves delivering expert technical guidance to internal and external clients in relation to Komatsu Heavy Earth Moving Equipment.
Qualifications:

  • A Trade Certificate in Heavy Earth Moving Mechanic.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 4 years' post-trade experience with heavy earthmoving equipment in the mining or construction industry.
  • 2 years' supervisory experience in the construction Industry (an advantage).
Specific knowledge and skill requirements:
  • Driver's license (Essential)
  • Microsoft Office (Intermediate)
  • Strong sales and customer service skills.
  • Technical aptitude and ability to understand complex products.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Summary description of role:
1. Safety, Health & Environment:
  • Proactive safety implementation: Ensures adherence to SHE policies, conducts safety events, and integrates safety into work planning.
  • Knowledge transfer and compliance: Instructs colleagues on safety procedures, verifies understanding, and enforces the use of protective gear.
  • Hazard management and reporting: Identifies and reports hazardous situations, monitors safety equipment, and provides feedback on safety event effectiveness.
2. Machine inspections:
  • Comprehensive inspection planning & execution: Plans and conducts inspections of components and undercarriages, ensuring adherence to schedules and customer agreements.
  • Documentation and customer liaison: Manages component history files, verifies warranties and manuals, and communicates inspection results to customers.
  • Reporting and follow-up: Completes and files inspection reports, submits copies to relevant departments, and recommends necessary upgrades.
3. Service & Repairs:
  • Service call and repair planning: Plans and preparations for service calls and component modifications, including warranty repairs.
  • Technical advice and support: Provides technical advice, liaises with internal departments, and drives after-market parts sales through technical expertise.
  • Monitoring and documentation: Monitors machine down situations, oversees component overhauls, and completes required documentation for services and repairs.
4. Technical product reporting & advice:
  • Data collection and reporting: Gathers and analyzes data from inspections and Komtrax to generate reports on equipment performance.
  • Technical training and support: Provides technical training to customers and field service personnel and completes field campaigns.
  • Product improvement and monitoring: Monitors machine hours, tracks component availability, and submits technical service information (TSI) for issues.
5. Drives after-market parts & service through advice:
  • Product research and implementation: Researches and recommends products to enhance customer equipment and installs and commissions after-market parts.
  • Cost saving and supplier liaison: Conducts benchmark exercises for cost savings and liaises with suppliers for AMS downloads.
6. Controls warranty claims:
  • Warranty process management: Plans and executes warranty claims procedures, including document preparation and liaison with the warranties department.
  • Component monitoring and support: Monitors components after repairs, assists with troubleshooting, and supports site personnel during commissioning.
  • Reporting and business development: Compiles warranty reports, identifies new business opportunities for Reman components, and reports on sales and demand.
