My client, situated in Johannesburg, operates as a worldwide steel manufacturing enterprise. They provide a diverse array of products, including flat steel, long steel, and various steel-related items, catering to a broad spectrum of sectors like construction, automotive, mining, and manufacturing. Furthermore, they have vested interests in iron ore mining and coal production, which serve as vital raw materials for steel production.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager the deliverables of the role include managing the procurement and sourcing of raw materials, equipment, and services necessary for the production and operation of a steel manufacturing plant, Identifying, evaluating, and selecting suppliers who can provide the necessary raw materials, such as iron ore, coal, alloys, and other materials, as well as equipment and services required for steel production, ensuring that all procurement activities adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, developing and implementing procurement strategies that align with the company's objectives, which can include sourcing materials sustainably or diversifying suppliers for risk management.
Job Experience & Skills Required:

-B Com - Supply Chain management
-Minimum of 8 years significant experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in the steel manufacturing industry or a related manufacturing sector.
-In-depth knowledge of the steel manufacturing industry, including an understanding of steel production processes, raw materials, market dynamics, and quality standards.
-Understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to procurement and steel manufacturing is essential
-Must be proficient in SAP system
-Ability to identify and resolve issues related to procurement and supplier relationships.
-Strong negotiation skills

-Proven track record of cost savings and process improvement initiatives
