Job Summary
Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Must have a relevant degree with relevant Procurement certification, e.g. APICS CSCP and/or CPSM
  • Minimum 7 years experience in a procurement / supply chain role, ideally at an MNO or OEM will be required
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of the South Africa supply market is essential
  • Strong MS Excel and Powerpoint, including Procurement tools/systems skills are important
  • Must have strong project management skills with experience in working with cross-functional teams in complex sourcing projects
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Analysing relevant supply market dynamics and supplier capabilities.
  • Developing knowledge of power sources, including alternative power options.
  • Managing end-to-end Procurement and Supply Chain activities in line with the group-wide procurement policy.
  • Implementing and maintaining best practices and continuous improvement initiatives which eliminate inefficiencies and enhance performance in the companyxe2x80x99s supply chain.
  • Ensuring all activities related to sourcing and procurement of necessary materials and supplies are carried out to meet operational, project and program demands to support short, medium and longer term objectives.
  • Ensuring adoption of and adherence to Sustainability (ESG) principles.
  • Optimising spend, leveraging the supply base, minimising risk and ensuring compliance with IHS policies, processes and regulatory standards.
  • Working with relevant stakeholders to create commercial arrangements that appropriately address risk, reward, supply chain flexibility and continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring full alignment, understanding and adoption of roles & responsibilities in agreed governance model with local, specialist and Group teams.
  • Gathering information for development of sourcing strategies.
  • Establishing appropriate negotiation strategies, ensuring stakeholder alignment.
  • Proactively identifying and communicating changes in demand or business strategy to category procurement teams to mitigate penalties or supply shortages to the business.
  • Leading supplier performance management activities, ensuring accurate reporting against SLAxe2x80x99s and KPIxe2x80x99s, reviewing performance with project owner(s), stakeholders and suppliers and leading performance enhancement interventions as required.
  • Liaising with Group Category teams to align sourcing priorities, provide local input and where appropriate, implement global agreements through local supply chains.
  • Ensuring agreements handover to stakeholders, for local implementation and day-to-day management.
  • Managing expectations regarding lead times and engaging in demand/inventory planning to ensure that requisitions and purchase orders are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Working effectively with Treasury and Finance to ensure letters of credit and other financial tools are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring that customs documentation and requirements are understood and proactively addressed.
  • Liaising with the Technical team to address quality and returns.
