Procurement Assistant

Job Description

Job Summary We are looking for a Procurement Assistant with a strong background in manufacturing to support our procurement operations. The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a good understanding of supply chain processes.
Assist in sourcing and purchasing raw materials, components, and services.
Maintain relationships with suppliers and negotiate pricing and terms.
Place orders as needed.
Track deliveries and resolve any issues related to order discrepancies.
Work closely with the production and quality teams to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
Ensure procurement procedures are followed strictly.
Maintain procurement records (update supplier lists monthly) and generate reports as required (supplier monthly ratings).
Coordinate with stores and production.
Assist in resolving any order or delivery issues.
Assist with returns, warranties and rejected items.
ADHOC duties as per manager's request.
Essential requirements:
Matric (Grade 12)
Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Proven experience in procurement or supply chain support roles
Strong telephone and communication skills
Must be disciplined, stern, confident and assertive
Proficiency in MS Office and ERP system (e.g., Omni)
Ability to multitask, attention to detail and work under pressure
Ability to follow instructions
