Perform duties and responsibilities required by any other relevant legal appointment in terms of MHS Act, OHS Act appointment and other SHE Legislation (e.g., incident investigator, H & S committee member)
Ensure there is compliance to site Safety Plans
Ensure that work activities are in line with the Life Value Plan (LVP)
Facilitate the identification of occupational SHE hazards, risks, Major unwanted events, and the associated preventive and corrective controls.
Enable the implementation of controls within the operations.
Facilitate workplace risk assessments (e.g., baseline, continuous and issue based)
Facilitate the execution of risk-based workplace occupational safety improvement interventions.
Identify non-conformances, including incidents, conduct investigations, root cause analysis, and the identification of personal, workplace and organizational factors to prevent incidents from occurring /recurring.
Conduct regular inspections to identify at risk conditions and at-risk behaviors to prevent incidents and strive for zero harm.
Governance and assurance:
Conduct focused safety audits.
Conduct risk-based assurance audits with focus on group and critical controls
Participate in the respective forums.
Monitor, review and improve effectiveness of safety improvement initiatives.
Monitor and respond proactively to hazards in the workplace.
Lead workplace safety inspections and coach operations personnel
Identify incident and injury trends and recommend and monitor mitigating and control measures.
Participate in the roll out of the Safety Improvement Plans and report updates as required.
Change management and communication
Develop and communicate safety awareness and enablement material.
Occasionally facilitate safety discussions (toolbox talks, safety meetings or stand downs)

Influence Operations and team members to implement the best practices.
Identify and establish communication channels and mechanisms.
Extract, benchmark, enrich, capture, and disseminate within knowledge management standards.
Service Provider intervention to ensure alignment.
Relevant 3-year qualification in the SHE/chemical/explosives industry xe2x80x93 BSc or National Diploma (Must)
COMSOC 1 and COMSOC 2 (Wish)
SQAS (Wish)
ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 Implementation and Auditing courses (preferred)
5 yearsxe2x80x99 relevant experience, preferably in mining, or chemicals and/or explosives industry
The candidate must be medical fit to work in mines (underground and/or open cast)
Candidate must be able to travel to different customer sites and perform standby duties.
Experience working with MS Office package like MS Power Point, MS Word, MS Excel.
Preferences will be given to candidates residing in the in the Northwest and Gauteng area.
