Job Summary BSc degree in Business Management, Engineering or equivalent or related experience
At least 5 years in a managerial position xe2x80x93 people and processes
At least 5 years in a plant and equipment operations management experience within HEAVY ENGINEERING industry is essential
Proven work experience as a Plant Manager
Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
Leadership and management skills
Ability to problem solve, strong interpersonal skills
Exceptional communication skills xe2x80x93 verbal and written
Computer Literacy Required - MS Office and Excel
SHEQ understanding and strong Leadership Skills
Project Management experience

Ability to think and operate at a strategic level
Rapid completion of tasks and efficiency is critical
Extremely organized and structured approach to conducting work

Duties:

  • Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations on the factory floor.
  • Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining and improving current quality standards.
  • Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time delivery.
  • Allocate resources effectively, and fully utilise assets to produce optimal results.
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions.
  • Share a trusting relationship with employees and recruit, manage and develop plant employees.
  • Collect and analyse data to find places of waste or overtime.
  • Commit to plant safety processes and procedures.
  • Develop systems and processes that track and optimise productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure production targets are met.
  • Address employeesxe2x80x99 issues or grievances in conjunction with the Human Resource department.
  • Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts.
  • Plan and coordinate manufacturing operations for production, machinery, processing, and packaging departments.
  • Ensure that production line schedules are in accordance with facility capabilities and production targets.
  • Manage materials replenishment, quality standards, and performance metrics in support of organisational goals and objectives.
  • Create and maintain documentation protocols and ensure that all records of operations are properly maintained and reviewed.
  • Ensure regular review of all plant equipment to identify pro-active maintenance requirements and assess plant breakdowns, perform diagnostics and provide feedback to management.
  • Make recommendations on new plant purchases together with the respective motivations.
  • Ensure plant employee training documentation and associated certificates are up to date.
  • Prepare maintenance repair budgets and estimates.
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes, quality, and costs.
  • Monthly reporting of departmental metrics.
  • Ensure Plant availability and reliability.
