Port Shepstone Area - KwaZulu-Natal:

As the primary on-site leader, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining operational excellence while driving business growth in the region. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the development of a biochar carbon removal venture in South Africa. You will be managing the team on-site, building relationships with local partners and ensuring the plant runs efficiently and safely.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated experience in operational management roles. Extensive experience in agricultural, forestry, manufacturing, or industrial operations management. Strong understanding of general production processes, quality control, and supply chain management. Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to work independently. Experience in business development and stakeholder management Strong problem-solving abilities and technical aptitude Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices preferred but not essential. Excellent communication skills. Preferred but not essential: Bachelor degree in Agroforestry related field, Engineering, Business Administration, or other related field.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee daily operations of the biochar production facility, ensuring efficient production processes, quality control, and compliance with safety and environmental standards. Manage end-to-end supply chain operations, including raw material procurement, production scheduling, and product shipment coordination. Build and maintain strong relationships with local customers, suppliers, and stakeholders while identifying and pursuing new business opportunities in the region. Hire, supervise and develop the local team, fostering a positive work culture and ensuring high performance standards. Manage facility maintenance, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement solutions to minimize operational disruptions. Ensure compliance with local regulations.
