TB HIV Care (THC), in existence since 1929, is an internationally recognised non-profit organisation. Purpose of the position:
To coordinate peer educators in providing a comprehensive mobile and fixed site wellness service, primarily to people who inject drugs (PWID). This involves ensuring that peer educator work schedules are organized, monitoring peer performance of duties, and ensuring that peer reporting is consistent.
Minimum Requirements
High school education
One-month related training
Previous experience as a peer educator or outreach worker
Proficiency in isiXhosa/ English and another South African language
Valid code 8 drivers license
Clear criminal record
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate peers working on outreach programmes and at the drop-in centre (DIC), under supervision of the PWID Project Coordinator
Conduct outreach activities with the mobile unit
Adhere to all relevant standard operating procedures, policies, and standards
Engage with PWID community, including attendance of and participation in community advisory group (CAG) meetings
Participate and assist in organising in PWID/PWUD support meetings, community advisory group meetings and structures as directed by PNC and project coordinator
