Payroll Manager Finance ~ HR
Durban - KwaZulu Natal - South Africa

Our client, a multinational manufacturing company in South Africa, is looking for a Payroll Manager to manage the group Payroll function in overseeing & directing payroll procedures, ensuring compliance with laws & tax obligations, supervising the payroll team & maintaining accurate payroll records.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Human Resources
  • Sage 300 Payroll Certificate with a minimum of 75% pass (essential)
  • BCEA knowledge
  • 5 years' experience in a similar role
Key Performance Areas:

Pay-Related Legislation:
  • Translate legislative changes into relevant Payroll Policies & Procedures
  • An in-depth understanding of & to comply with the relevant employee-related Legislation
Employment Equity:
  • Provide EE downloads from payroll system
BBBEE:
  • Participate in the implementation & compilation of the BBBEE documentation required for BBBEE verification
Recruitment & Selection:
  • Facilitate pay scale information
  • Ensure accurate draft of employment contracts
  • Ensure accurate take on of new employees into the payroll system
Reward & Remuneration:
  • Act as a subject matter expert advising & providing guidance & feedback on how strategies can be implemented within the context of the payroll processes
  • Facilitate & administer the annual increase & bonus processes
  • Facilitate annual medical aid amendments
  • Administer data, systems, & payments for all payrolls
  • Administer the Provident / Pension Fund processes
  • Audit & report on leave on the payroll system
  • Perform audits on the salaried payrolls
  • Ensure payrolls comply with relevant laws & policies
Payroll Management Framework:
  • Maintain & update payroll policies as rules & regulations change
  • Design & implement all benefits programs accurately & sustainably
  • Design & update Employee Processes & forms
Provident Fund Admin Management:
  • Ensure that all group employee benefits related processes & policies are adhered to by Line management
  • Guideline management on processes & procedures regarding group employee benefits
  • Monitor the status of all claims & liaise with the relevant stakeholders
  • Ensure paperwork is completed for disability claims
  • Ensure annual reviews for disability cases
Time & Attendance Management:
  • Manage employee information on the time & attendance reader
  • Monitor & report on overtime & approvals thereof
  • Monitor & report on absenteeism & annual leave
  • Record & report on any time & attendance non-conformances
  • Proactively manage the time & attendance system
  • Ensure proper coordination between timekeeping & payroll systems
Wage Administration:
  • Manage the Wage Administration function
  • Perform ad hoc reviews on the weekly wage payrolls
Systems Administration:
  • Manage & maintain the integrity of the payroll system
  • Be responsible for loading authorised users onto the payroll system & review user access on an ongoing basis
  • Ensure accurate input of employee master information into the payroll & time & attendance systems & that employee master files are accurately maintained
  • Oversee system upgrades
  • Proactively engage with service providers to ensure system queries are resolved in a sustainable manner & in line with approval requirements for change
Monthly Statutory Payments:
  • Compilation of monthly salary pack
Continuous Improvement:
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends & developments in the Payroll & Human Resources field & drive best practices in the payroll discipline
  • Maintain & update personnel files
  • Maintain professional record-keeping of all payroll documentation
Reporting:
  • Compile HR reports
People Management:
  • Ensure an enabling climate / culture
  • Ensure a safe, secure, & legal working environment
  • Manage individual, team, & departmental performance to achieve organisational objectives
  • Determine the training needs of the department
  • Conduct performance reviews & manage sub-standard performance
  • Resolve grievances & disputes
SHE:
  • Take reasonable health & safety care for yourself & others working with you
  • Identify potential hazards & critical safety issues in the workplace
