Responsible for overseeing, analysing, and optimising all payment channels and solutions used across the business. This includes debit orders, EFT, digital payments (including pay-by-link and electronic wallet), and third-party payment gateways.
Ensures the organisation has efficient, cost-effective, and high-performing payment options available to customers while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence.
Provides strategic insights and data-driven recommendations to Operations and Finance on which channels drive the best results for activation, settlements, and customer retention, ensuring the business maximise collections and reduce costs.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Matric (Grade 12) is essential.
Diploma or Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or related field is preferred.
3-5 years' experience in payment administration, reconciliation, or financial operations.
Previous experience in debt collection, call centre, or financial services environment is advantageous.
Strong understanding of NAEDO, AEDO, Debicheck, and digital payment gateways.
Experience with bank file submissions, EFT reconciliations, and payment gateway management.
Proficiency in Excel, data analytics, and preferably SQL or Power BI for reporting.
Understanding of compliance and governance frameworks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee all payment platforms (e.g., Debit Orders, EFT, Pay@, EasyPay, PayFast, SnapScan, Ozow), ensure system uptime, and resolve payment-related issues while maintaining documentation and SLAs.
Conduct monthly performance reviews, compile dashboards, assess cost-effectiveness, monitor customer behaviour, and advise Operations and Campaign teams on channel optimisation and strategic use.
Manage end-to-end debit order loading, tracking, and reconciliation, monitor success/return trends, and implement improvements to enhance debit order hit rates.
Perform regular reconciliation across all payment channels, resolve discrepancies, and prepare reports on payment success, cost-to-collect, trends, and forecasted cash flow for Operations and Finance.
Identify inefficiencies, implement automation, integrate payment feedback loops with internal systems, and support operations teams with accurate payment process guidance.
Ensure adherence to regulatory and client compliance requirements (PCI-DSS, POPIA, FICA), manage vendor relationships, evaluate PSP performance, and collaborate with banks, PSPs, and internal departments.
