The Pastry Chef will be responsible for preparing a variety of desserts and baked goods while ensuring quality, consistency, and creativity in every dish. The role requires a balance of technical skill, artistry, and attention to detail, with the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
Prepare and design a wide variety of high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods for the restaurant and events.
Develop and test new pastry creations for seasonal menus and special occasions.
Modify recipes based on customer feedback, dietary needs, and ingredient availability.
Follow FIFO procedures to maintain freshness and minimise waste.
Present pastries and desserts to the highest standard in both taste and appearance.
Monitor ingredient quality, freshness, and proper storage practices.
Manage pastry inventory, order supplies, and minimise wastage through effective stock control.
Collaborate with the Head Chef on new menu concepts and event-specific offerings.
Participate in monthly stock takes and maintain accurate kitchen documentation.
Minimum 2 years' experience in a 5-star hotel or fine dining restaurant .
Diploma or certificate in Pastry Arts , Culinary Arts , or a related field.
Matric certificate required.
Strong attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.
Ability to perform under pressure and maintain high service standards.
Preference will be given to candidates residing in Franschhoek or nearby areas
