One of our long-standing clients, situated in Muizenberg in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, is an international and fast-growing food manufacturing facility, which operates under extreme food safety conditions and standards.

The company is looking for an Outbound Logistics Officer to work in the Logistics Department. The ideal candidate has experience in the FMCG industry with a strong administrative background. The incumbent will take joint responsibility of the logistical operations with, and provide stand-in support for, the Inbound Logistics Officer. The job incumbent will manage the Warehouse Supervisors and their reportees, and will report to the Supply Chain Manager.

Duties:

• Adhering to and maintaining all food safety, health, quality control and hygiene standards at all times
• Adhering to and implementing standard operating procedures
• Maintaining all housekeeping standards and ensuring reportees comply with housekeeping requirements at all times
• Sales: engaging with customers regarding sales orders and progress of order fulfilment, generating packing lists and pallet sheets, engaging with freight-forwarders regarding orders and transportation, booking shipping lines and depot releases, engaging with Department of Health, reconciling stock count on ERP system, facilitate draw-back claims
• Logistics and Warehousing: Acting as stand-in for Inbound Logistics Officer, physically inspecting the loading of trucks and authorize loadings, oversee packing of stock in the warehouses, manage stock adjustments and write-offs, monitoring warehouse stock-takes, managing the receiving and dispatch processes from warehouses, managing internal stock transfers, investigating stock variances in warehouses
• Administration: processing stock storage reports, processing stock reports, reviewing and updating SOPs, generating job cards, maintaining all outgoing logistics/shipment documentation, reporting all non-conformances and taking necessary corrective actions
• Liaison: continuous liaison with the Supply Chain Manager, Inbound Logistics Officer, Logistics department, Management team, customers, freight-forwarders, external warehouses
• Personnel Management: Overseeing and supervising the activities and HR administration of the Warehouse Supervisor, Warehouse Operators, Truck Drivers and Warehouse Assistants, monitoring compliance of reportees to all company policies, procedures, standards and relevant legislation
• Providing reasonable ad-hoc assistance as necessary

Requirements:

• Matric certificate with a relevant tertiary qualification in warehouse management, transport, supply chain, production or logistics
• Proven experience in warehousing and supply chain management
• Expanded knowledge of the shipping industry and standards in SA
• Demonstrated experience in people management (preferably within a similar industry)
• At least 5 years of experience working within an FMCG environment/food industry
• Training and experience with Quality Control and Food Safety (e.g. HACCP, ISO, FSSC)
• Well-developed knowledge of stock control and management
• Occupational Health and Safety training and experience (First aid and firefighting training)
• Strong computer literacy levels (MS Office: especially Excel and ERP systems: D365, i-Comply)
• Strong time management skills and the ability to work under pressure
• Excellent administrative record-keeping and filing skills (manual / electronic)
• High attention to detail, organised and systematic
