Operations Manager: Logistics

Job Description

We are looking for a well-seasoned Operations Manager to join our Logistics division to effectively and successfully implement the Logistics strategy and operational business plan nationally, thereby contributing to the short- and medium-term profitability of the Logistics Department. This involves planning and executing routes and developing and implementing standard operating procedures for all regions, in alignment with Afrirent's policies and procedures. The role manages the Logistics fleet, ensures compliance to service level agreements and maintains successful stakeholder engagements and relationships

Minimum Requirements



Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Transport / Operations Management / Logistics Management / Supply Chain Management

7 years' operational experience in transport / supply chain management / logistics / warehousing

3 years' supervisory / management experience

:

Operational Management



Leads, plans and oversees the logistics operations

Develops policies, standard operating procedures and manuals

Monitors compliance with transportation-related laws and regulations

Sets and monitors targets and addresses areas of concern as required

Monitors adherence to client and vendor contracts and service level agreements (SLA's)

Ensures that all contracts are financially sustainable through thorough planning and protocol management

Implements comprehensive route optimisation planning and protocols to reduce costs and unnecessary expenditure

Conducts route surveys and route assessments for new truck routes in order to identify risks / obstacles / best route options

Works closely with the Fleet Controllers to ensure that all administrative compliance and ensures that administrative, financial, stock, procurement and expenditure procedures are carried out correctly

Monitors and tracks all vehicles and driver-behaviour, identifies areas of improvements and makes recommendations for training initiatives thereby contributing to the overall operational efficiencies and improving the fleets' performance

Monitors and assists with breakdowns of the fleet vehicles and makes cost-effective repair / maintenance decisions in order to minimise the vehicle's downtime

Monitors the achievement of results and develops action plans to address issues identified and to improve results

Addresses areas of concerns and puts plans in place to ensure compliance with SLA's

Attends to escalated matters, queries or complaints from clients and vendors

Manages, monitors and maintains optimum stock levels

Implements innovative and proactive solutions to improve processes

Monitors that Afrirent vehicles are utilised and maintained according to company policies and procedures

Oversees that the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act are strictly adhered to for both the client and Afrirent

Ensures that safety files and protocols are implemented on all sites according to approved standards and procedures

Stakeholder Management



Maintains effective stakeholder and business relationships through appropriate relationship building, networking and reporting activities to promote retention and growth

Manages relationships and communication channels with new and potential clients

Monitors client satisfaction feedback and levels and makes recommendations for enhancements

Communicates with clients on a continuous basis in order to raise issues identified, deal with logistical matters and compliance with SLA's

Resolves queries to ensure speedy resolutions and enhance overall client satisfaction

Ensures that all audits conducted by the client are passed and adhered to

International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) Audit Compliance



Achieves an average of 80% compliance on both internal and external International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) audits conducted

Budget Management



Develops the annual Departmental budget

Monitors expenditure in line with the approved budget on an on-going basis

Ensures strict adherence to the approved budget

People Management



Manages the unit in line with company policies

Fosters a suitable and supportive environment conducive to staff development and the achievement of Departmental objectives

Implements staff development and training to achieve the unit and organisational objectives

Implements performance management and monitors the performance of subordinate staff

Participates in the recruitment and selection of subordinate staff

Pay: R678910,00 - R910111,00 per year
