Job Description

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Student Relations
- Conduct individual career advising sessions with students and graduates.
- Review CVs, cover letters and LinkedIn profiles for students.
- Conduct mock interviews with students.
- Plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate every career week in each faculty together with company relations.
- Recruit, train, and manage staff, including Career Ambassadors.
- Manage career projects, including the Career Closet and CV Lab.
- Assist with logistics pertaining to career weeks and training.
- Provide mentoring to career ambassadors and students working at Career Services.
- Engage and support all Career Development and Employability projects and programmes.
- Engage students to participate in and submit activities of the work readiness and career development programmes to reach deliverables of Career Services and ongoing institutional projects on employability.
- Assist with the CareerHub registrations and continuous communication with stakeholders.
- Create CareerHub events, activities, and appointments on a regular basis.
- Maintain CareerHub resources and information pages.
- Build CareerHub forms for career week and programme evaluations.
  • Strategic Planning
- Monitor and coordinate assessment of implementation of strategic priorities, objectives and plans in Career Services (Qwaqwa office).
- Participate in Strategic Planning discussions in Career Services, Student Affairs and Centre for Teaching and Learning
  • Stakeholder Management Engagement
- Contribute to the overall leadership in the Division of Career Services.
- Liaise with company representatives per request.
- Build and collate relations with companies/firms/businesses that Career Services interact with.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation
- Monitor and evaluate all programmes, workshops, and events.
  • Operational and Administrative Management
- Contribute to the overall leadership in the Division of Career Services.
- Manage career projects, including the Career Closet and CV Lab.
- Take ownership and responsibility for office operations, which includes budget management, finances, asset control, and assisting with student appointments and payments.
- Collaborate with other departments in Career Services, e.g., Company Relations.
  • Student Affairs Involvement
- Participate and be involved in Student Affairs structures, attend meetings, represent the Division of Career Services and the Department of Student Affairs, and fulfil the roles of liaison officer and marketer when necessary.

Inherent Job requirements:
- A relevant bachelor's degree or an advanced diploma on NQF level 7 or a three-year national diploma on NQF level 6.
- A minimum of two (2) years relevant working experience relating to the duties and responsibilities.

Salary:
The annual remuneration package, including benefits, is R 408,148.51- R 513,407.84 per annum, depending on the budget available for the position, relevant work experience and qualifications.
