Manage and configure, and implement secure network solutions using Firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and other relevant next-gen firewall technologies.
Manage and configure SASE technologies. (SWG, DLP, CASB, Private Access, etc).
Manage and configure WAF technologies.
Assist with troubleshooting network connectivity and performance issues across network links, firewall, VPN, WAF and proxy technologies.
Assist with deployment of technical solutions for detecting & preventing potential threats and improving security posture.
Collaborate with the information security team to develop and enforce network security policies, procedures, and best practices.
Monitor network traffic for suspicious activities, analyse logs, and respond to security incidents in a timely manner.
Stay current with emerging cyber security threats, trends, and technologies to maintain network resilience against evolving risks.
Implement access controls and authentication mechanisms to ensure authorized personnel and assets have appropriate access levels.
Work closely with network administrators to ensure proper network segmentation and isolation of critical assets.
Participate in the design and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans for the cyber security infrastructure.
Collaborate with third-party vendors to assess security products and services, making recommendations for procurement when necessary.
Provide technical support to resolve security-related network issues and incidents.
Document network security architecture, configurations, and procedures for knowledge sharing and future reference.
Compile monthly reporting on security control efficacy.
Qualifications
Related relevant network security certifications (Fortinet NSE4 (Fortinet Certified Professional Network Security)), CompTIA N+, CompTIA S+)
Relevant work experience required as a Network Security Engineer with a focus on cyber security, including designing and implementing secure network solutions for cloud and on-premises environments.
Solid understanding of network concepts (protocols, routing, switching, TCP/IP, OSI model, etc.) and firewall technologies (redundancy, resiliency, Layer4-Layer7 features and next generation security capabilities)
Knowledge and experience of IT security controls and components (Network IPS, Vulnerability Scanning, Firewalls, Cloud Proxies, NAC, Load Balancers, WAF, VPN, DOS/DDOS, Endpoint Protection), and other cyber security tools
Advantageous
Diploma or bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Exposure to different cloud services (Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud)
Understanding of API Security techniques for the HTTP protocol. (e.g. HTTP methods (POST/GET), server response codes, etc.) and the HTML language. e.g. document structure, elements, forms, etc.
Use of network analysis and troubleshooting tools e.g. tcpdump, Wireshark, traceroutes, curl, telnet, etc.
Deployment of security resources using IAC (infrastructure as code) e.g. Terraform, Ansible, etc.
Understanding of Zero Trust Network Access Framework and components
Familiarity with network monitoring and logging toolsets to detect and respond to security incidents.
Knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g. ISO27001, GDPR) and their impact on network security.
