National Sales Manager

Job Description


Northriding, JHB. Established, fast growing concern servicing the FMCG industry seeks National Sales Manager with solid sales experience, preferably in the FMCG industry. Previous management experience or leadership role within a team is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Line Manager to 7 Sales Representatives
  • Perform cost-benefit and needs analysis of existing / potential customers to meet their needs and drive company sales
  • Supervise and groom sales personnel which typically include recruitment, performance evaluation, training, work allocation and problem resolution
  • Present, promote and sell products using solid negotiating and sales skills together with product knowledge to existing and prospective customers
  • Sell a large portfolio of products to an existing and expanding customer base to reach target thresholds, this position will have an allocated customer portfolio
  • Be responsible for taking orders when calling on customers and setting up repeat business
  • Source training material from all suppliers in order to train field sales, telesales and customer care teams on existing brand portfolio and new launches
  • Participate in the brand activity planning matrix and annual strategy plans for sales and marketing
  • Provide the sales and marketing teams with adequate training on competitor information comparatively such as pricing points and with USPxe2x80x99s and other benefits
  • Supply management with reports on customer opportunities, needs, problems, interests, competitive activities and potential for new products and services
  • Contribute to monthly supplier reports and KPIxe2x80x99s as required
  • Ensure that tools to trade are relevant and contain updated information e.g. price lists, online ordering platforms, POPI etc.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in Sales OR 5 years minimum experience in Sales role
  • Experience in the pet specialty industry advantageous
  • Management experience or leadership role within a team
  • Excellent selling and negotiating skills
  • Ability to travel within SA and out when required
  • Good physical health / able to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Flexible approach to working hours, willing and able to respond to needs outside xe2x80x98office hoursxe2x80x99 - early morning, evenings and weekends
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal, written and presentation
  • Commercially minded
  • Computer skills - Microsoft Office and PowerPoint to intermediate level, excellent Excel skills
  • Multilingual advantageous
