Undertakes original research that includes developing and confirming highly sensitive, reliable assay methodologies for the rapid and accurate analysis of mycotoxins in milk and milk products.
Responsible for conducting analytical method development, validation and sample analysis using UHPLC-MS/MS for quantitative analysis of mycotoxins in milk and milk products.
Applies and interprets scientific theories, concepts, techniques, and regulatory requirements in analytical and mass spectrometry studies and accepts leadership role in developing scientific approaches.
Prepares SOPs and other documents such as validation protocols, validation reports, and data reports for testing results
Share responsibility for lab management duties and performs other related duties as assigned.
Ensure compliance with SHE/OHS policies and procedures.
Honours in chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or a closely related field.
Demonstrated capacity to conduct research at postgraduate level.
1 or more years' experience using analytical techniques, with proven hands-on experience with liquid chromatography with tandem-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).
experience in analytical method development, validation, analysis, and sample preparation (such as milk, cheese, yogurt).
The ideal candidate will also have experience in gas chromatography (GC), food sample analysis, and ELISA assays.
Experience in a Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) environment preferred
Good communication skills (verbal and written).
Must be a South African citizen.
