Job Summary

Hire Resolve is currently seeking a talented and experienced Metallurgy Manager to join our client's team in the Mining Industry. As the Metallurgy Manager, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the metallurgical operations within the mining site.

Responsibilities

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY:

• Manage SHEQ compliance within the Department through effective use of the Toolbox
• Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status.

PEOPLE:
Manage the section:

• Ensure an enabling climate/culture in line with Samancor culture
• Manage labour stability by minimising labour turnover

o Labour complement in line with budget
o Achieve HDSA/Female and BBB-EE targets for the Department

• Manage performance against targets (IDP's), ensure IDP's are linked to performance results and implemented as per plan and conduct career discussions with identified talent
• Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, overtime, misconduct, lateness, etc.)
• Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels
• Conduct recruitment interviews.

CUSTOMERS:

• Ensure customer satisfaction
• Key customers: Marketing, Smelters.

BUSINESS PROCESSES:
Metallurgy:

• Ensure the safe and environmentally friendly operation of the Metallurgical processes
• Manage the Metallurgical process
• Manage the Logistics process
• Ensure the Quality standards are maintained
• Liaise with Mining and Engineering to ensure effective and efficient process flow.

GROWTH:

• Manage Continuous Improvement through Operational Excellence
• Develop growth opportunities in co-operation with Mineral Resources and Mining.

SHAREHOLDER VALUE:

• Manage the Metallurgy budget.

Requirements

• BSc / BTech Degree or NHD in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering
• At least 8 years' Production experience
• At least 3 years Managerial experience.
• At least 3 years Mineral processing experience.
• An MBA/MBL would be an advantage.
• Computer literate
• Metallurgy processes; Planned Maintenance, Logistic processes.
