Independent auditor of tonnage produced and reflected as a monthly Mine Call Factor.
Managing project delivery in such a manner as to ensure customer satisfactions.
Implement skills and specific activities to ensure optimum performance according to operational requirements, organisational objectives and sound mining practices.
Minimum Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
N Dip: Mine Surveying (Essential/Minimum or)
Certificate Mine Valuation COM (Essential/Minimum and)
Mine Surveyors Gov Cert of Comp (Essential/Minimum)
Management Development Programme (Essential/Minimum)
B Tech Surveying (Recommended/Desirable or)
NH Dip: Mine Surveying (Recommended/Desirable)
EXPERIENCE:
8 years with relevant 5 years Operational Mine Surveying experience of which at least 3 years Management experience (Essential/Minimum) Operational REQUIREMENTS:
SA Geomatics Council: Prof Mine Surveyor (Essential/Minimum or)
SA Council for Prof & Technical Surveyor (Essential/Minimum or)
Institute of Mine Surveyors of SA (Essential/Minimum)

Duties & Responsibilities
Best Practice and Knowledge Management
Facilitate knowledge sharing to ensure accurate and effective information flow
Research best practice within industry and provide relevant recommendations
Advising and commissioning of relevant industry accepted survey standards and relevant technology at Business Units (BUxe2x80x99s)
Ensure state of the art techniques and software, XPAC, Minex, ArcGIS, MicroStation, Model maker, scanning and aerial survey software used at BUxe2x80x99s
Entrenchment of underground and/or opencast quality control systems
Concurrent rehabilitation management of opencast and final landform designs
Business Process and Development
Supply technical inputs for development of business unit mine planning and related strategies
Develop systems to ensure legal compliance within discipline
Communicate impact of risks relating to business strategy
Assist with the execution of the functional strategy
Support the development of mining maintenance related planning and risk management systems
Assist with the development of systems to ensure legal compliance within the discipline
Supply technical inputs that will assist in determining the impact of risks, relating to the business strategy
Compliance, Governance and Assurance
Ensure full compliance with the requirements of Chapter 17 of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) with regards to surveying, mapping and mine plans and any other relevant regulations and acts
Ensure all surveying related services are delivered in accordance with policies, systems and procedures that are legally compliant and adhere to sound corporate governance principles
Monitor relevant risk
Ensure valid permissions, from the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR), i.e. to undermine surface infrastructure etc. is in place for entire mining right area
Customer and Client Relationship Management
Render a professional internal customer service for the entire mine and in particular to the mining and Mineral Resources Management (MRM) sections
Support with identification and investigation of problems and assist in development of solutions
Apply discipline-specific standards, principles and practices to enable design and implementation of engineering outcomes
Maintain survey control networks on relevant mine project sites
Effective People Management
Promote teamwork and provide support and manage performance
Provide inputs for efficient development, career path and deployment of staff
Take action to correct subordinates' performance deviations
Mentor coach and develop subordinates
Financial Management
Develop and manage capital and operating budget for Survey function aligned to departmental targets
Manage and ensure funds are optimally utilised within budget

Functional Excellence
Adhere to functional policies, standards, guidelines, procedures, end to end processes, tools, templates etc.
Assist in standardising, simplifying and speeding-up functional processes, eliminating duplication/bureaucracy

Mine Survey Support
Ensure Business Unit (BU) compliance with regards to all survey related Acts MHSA, Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA), Mining Titles Registration Act (MTRA) and National Water Act (NWA)
Support BU MRM and line with discipline related technical issues and operational planning requirements
Establish and maintain a surveying control network across the entire mine (Surface and/or underground)
Ensure high level morphometrically and orthometrically calibrated Global Positioning System (GPS) surveys are used for all BU and project related surface surveys and project related surface surveys
Compilation of monthly tonnage reconciliations and reports including monthly Mine Call Factor (MCF)
Compile equipment and staffing forecasts
