Job Description

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage and advise the Bloemfontein Student Representative Council.
  • Manage and advise Student Governance structures.
  • Manage and oversee the constitutional review process at Campus Level.
  • Plan and manage annual Student Governance electoral and transitional processes.
  • Provide training and support to the SRC, Student Parliament and other Student Governance structures.
  • Ensure effective functioning of Student Governance office.
  • Manage the Student Governance Office; Student Governance Administrator and three Student Governance Coordinators.
  • Create partnerships with Chapter 9 institutions, NGOs, NPOs, Voluntary Associations, Professional Bodies, DHET, and other relevant government institutions.
  • Manage professional institutional memberships with regards to the Division of Student Affairs, Student Governance, and Student Development Organisations.
  • Manage the development, implementation, and review of induction training processes for Student Governance Structures.
  • Manage and oversee the strategic plans of the SRC, Student Councils and Student Governance Structures.
  • Ensure institutional alignment of Student Governance.
  • Ensure active participation of Student Governance Structures, Student Councils and the SRC in the Institutional Governance.
  • Ensure strategic alignment of Student Governance programmes with the Student Affairs Strategy.
  • Initiate policy audits, policy review and policy amendment processes.
  • Promote good governance practices within Student Governance Structures.
  • Execute a policy development function for the office of the Dean of Student Affairs.
  • Monitor, review, and evaluate Student Governance and the Division of Student Affairs policies.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of internal and external strategic SRC Projects.
  • Initiate, coordinate and roll out projects of strategic relevance in the Division Student Affairs.
  • Coordinate & manage collaboration projects between different departments of the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Manage and administer the Division of Student Affairs Arts and Culture bursary award process and in turn collaborate with Financial Aid to ensure the awarding thereof.
Inherent requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree or a BTech degree on NQF level 7.
  • A minimum of three (3) years' relevant working experience relating to the duties and responsibilities.
Recommendations:
  • Background in Higher Education and Student Governance Structures.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • A legal/policy development background.
  • Proven history of policy development within Student Affairs.
  • Honours degree/Postgraduate Diploma on NQF level 8.
  • Experience within the higher education environment.
  • Knowledge of university systems, policies, procedures.
  • Member of a or registration at a professional body.
