ENERGY ELECTRICITY GENERATION AND DISTRIBUTION

MANAGER: INFRASTRUCTURE OPERATIONS

TCOE SALARY: XXX-XXXX PER ANNUM

REF NO: NRG 112/23 LOCATION: BLOEMHOF

Key Performance Areas:

• Identify and define the immediate, short and long term objectives/plans associated with the High Voltage Distribution/Transmission Networks, Protection, Telecoms and SCADA infrastructure
• Direct and control the Key Performance Indicators and outcomes of personnel
• As appointed and accountable responsible persons in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (GMR 2(7)) and OHS Act 16(2), implement procedures, systems and controls to regulate specific work and associated sequences associated with the operation, maintenance and repair functions of the division
• As cost centre owner, prepare capital and operating estimates and control expenditure against the approved budget allocations
• Manage the formulation of goods and services contracts and tender documents, and control the specified contractual obligations, using project management skills
• Direct and control the professional, technical and operational outcomes associated with the repair and maintenance, refurbishment and operational activities and functions related to the High Voltage Network
• Direct and control the professional, technical and operational outcomes associated with the repair and maintenance, refurbishment and operational activities and functions related to the Protection, Telecoms
• and SCADA infrastructure
• Direct and control input to the Branchs and Departments business and operational strategies relating to the High Voltage Distribution/Transmission Networks, Protection, Telecoms and SCADA infrastructure
• Disseminate functional and operational information on the short, medium and long term objectives of the department and division, as well as on current developments, problems and constraints, and maintain access to technical and business resources and information
• Direct and control the human resource and general administration requirements, including record keeping and specific administrative and reporting requirements associated with the key performance and result indicators of the Infrastructure Operations (IO) division.

Requirements:

• Minimum BTech degree in Electrical Engineering (from an approved ECSA accredited institution; BSc (Eng) / B Eng coupled with registration as a Professional Engineer/Technologist with ECSA
• Certificate of Competency issued by the Chief Inspector of the Department of Employment and Labour
• 10 years experience in the medium/high voltage electrical engineering/power systems field, of which a minimum of 5 years should be in the distribution and transmission of electrical engineering/power systems field
• Minimum of 5 years in a managerial position at senior level
• In depth knowledge of the operations, maintenance and technology of high voltage electricity transmission/distribution equipment, protection, telecoms as well as SCADA systems and equipment and power systems
• Maintenance management of electricity networks
• Knowledge of applicable legislation, industry standards and specifications (e.g., National Rationalised Specifications (NRS)
• Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act)
• Computer literacy in MS Office Applications
• A valid Code B drivers licence
