Job Description


Our client is looking for a Maintenance Manager who will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient operation of maintenance activities within a chemical manufacturing plant. This role involves overseeing and optimizing maintenance operations, managing resources, and adhering to safety and environmental standards. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining maintenance systems and strategies to achieve organizational goals, all while adhering to budgets and timelines.

  • Educational Background: Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current).
  • GCC Certification: Preferable, but not mandatory.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficient in advanced computer applications, including MS Office and ERP systems (e.g., Sage).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing plant in a similar role, demonstrating expertise in maintenance management.
  • Environmental Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and company safety standards. Hold the role of GMR 2 for the site. Implement and maintain Lean Six Sigma (LSS), Process Safety Management (PSM) policies, and the 5S principles.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to work standby and act as a Fire Marshal when necessary.
  • Maintenance Strategy Development: Plan, develop, and implement systems and strategies for maintenance management and development to align with organizational performance plans and objectives.
  • Resource Management: Ensure that the Maintenance Team is adequately staffed and resourced to meet organizational goals. Allocate resources effectively to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Maintenance Systems Optimization: Implement maintenance systems and strategies to ensure that maintenance resources adhere to world-class norms and best practices.
  • Performance Measurement: Establish and maintain systems for measuring key aspects of maintenance management and development. Monitor, measure, and report on maintenance issues, opportunities, and development plans.
  • Team Management: Manage and develop direct reporting staff, providing leadership, mentorship, and motivational support to maximize their performance.
  • Budget Management: Set, manage, and control departmental budgets within agreed parameters to ensure cost-effective maintenance operations.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Liaise with other managers to understand all necessary aspects and needs of maintenance development. Ensure that other departments are fully informed of maintenance objectives, purposes, and achievements.
  • Compliance: Ensure that maintenance activities comply with all organizational requirements, including quality management, health and safety standards, legal stipulations, environmental policies, and general duty of care.
  • Project Management: Compile, implement, and manage a project plan for the annual plant maintenance shutdown and plant improvement Capital Expenditure (Capex) and Projects.
