Job Description

Key Requirements

  • Solid experience in production and warehouse operations
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, Health & Safety, and Fire Compliance
  • Dangerous Goods and chemical handling experience beneficial
  • Ability to lead teams and manage disciplinary processes
  • Valid drivers licence (company bakkie can be provided)
  • Must live within a reasonable distance due to after-hours site callouts and therefore be of sober habits
  • Proactive, hands-on approach and strong problem-solving skills
  • Stable career history (no frequent job hopping)
Key Responsibilities
  • Warehouse & Site Operations
  • Daily opening/closing of premises and oversight of security protocols
  • End-to-end workflow management: receiving, storage, picking, packing, staging, dispatch
  • Ensure strict FIFO/FEFO, accurate picking slips, batch control, stock integrity
  • Maintain a clean, safe warehouse environment (5S)
  • Dangerous Goods & Chemical Handling
  • Ensure full compliance with DG regulations
  • Oversee storage, segregation, and labelling of hazardous materials
  • Train staff on chemical handling, PPE, spill response and SDS requirements
  • Maintain spill kits, fire extinguishers, and conduct compliance inspections
  • Fire & Emergency Preparedness (Advantage)
  • Support fire warden responsibilities
  • Participate in fire drills, equipment checks, incident reporting
  • Logistics & Dispatch
  • Plan daily dispatch schedules and route optimisation
  • Ensure safe and compliant loading
  • Verify paperwork, PODs, and manage driver performance
  • Liaise with transport providers and monitor OTIF performance
  • Vehicle & Equipment Management
  • Conduct inspections of forklifts, pallet jacks, trucks and bakkies
  • Manage servicing, repairs, and safety concerns
  • Maintain COFs, licence renewals, service logs
  • Stock Control & Inventory
  • Oversee GRVs, transfers, adjustments, dispatch capturing
  • Conduct cycle counts and full stock takes
  • Investigate discrepancies and maintain batch traceability
  • Staff Supervision
  • Lead and mentor warehouse staff
  • Allocate daily workload, monitor productivity and SOP compliance
  • Handle performance discussions and corrective action where needed
  • OHS & Compliance
  • Enforce safety procedures and OHS Act requirements
  • Conduct toolbox talks and ensure correct PPE usage
  • Report hazards and assist in incident investigations
  • Systems & Reporting
  • Use ERP/stock systems for all warehouse movements
  • Submit daily/weekly reporting and monitor KPIs
  • Recommend process improvements
  • Cross-Department Collaboration
  • Coordinate with Production, Sales, Customer Service, QA and Procurement
  • Manage raw material flow, urgent orders, product releases and non-conformances
  • Seasonal & After-Hours Availability
  • Weekend work during peak season (OctDec)
  • Flexibility for early starts/late finishes during high-demand periods
  • Attend to urgent after-hours warehouse or security matters when required
