Minimum Requirements
National Diploma in Logistics Management/Supply Chain
3 years or more direct buying experience in a Tier 1 automotive supplier
A pass in Mathematics - as a Matric / Gr.12 subject
Duties & Responsibilities
Purpose of the Role:
To ensure the efficient procurement and management of raw materials and components, aligning supply chain activities with customer demand and production schedules. The Logistics Buyer plays a key role in maintaining optimal inventory levels, ensuring supplier performance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics function.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Demand Management
Review and validate weekly customer demand forecasts.
Analyze changes in customer releases and communicate implications.
Coordinate with customers to align delivery schedules with supplier lead times.
Supplier Coordination
Develop and issue material forecasts (weekly, monthly, yearly).
Ensure timely and complete deliveries from suppliers.
Track shipments and manage supplier purchase orders and pricing.
Support supplier performance evaluations and scorecards.
Inventory & Stores Management
Oversee receiving and dispatching of goods.
Maintain accurate inventory levels using FIFO principles.
Coordinate stock movements and warehouse organization.
Quality Assurance
Implement logistics-related quality systems.
Report non-conformances and support quality improvement initiatives.
Promote departmental awareness of quality objectives.
Production & Issuing
Process store requisitions and coordinate material issuing.
Support production planning and data control.
Manage reject processing and stock take procedures.
Finished Goods Management
Maintain finished goods inventory levels.
Follow up on outstanding Proof of Deliveries (PODs).
Continuous Improvement
Lead process standardization and documentation efforts.
Identify and implement cost-saving and efficiency-enhancing initiatives.
* Monitor departmental KPIs and report monthly progress.
