Job Description


The purpose of the Data Infrastructure LOB management position is to ensure the smooth operation of the Business and processes and all the people involved in these processes. The person in this position owns the entire value chain represented by this LOB while ensuring maximum synergy with all other business units.

Job Duties

1. Business Development

  • Developing and maintaining the value proposition of the LOB
  • Define and develop the target market(s) for the LOB
  • Articulate the value proposition to the target market in collaboration with the rest of the management team and the business marketing resources.
  • Ensure constant and targeted communication to the target market, including using social media, direct marketing, face-to-face meetings, and other means.
2. Vendor management
  • The LOB manager is responsible for strategic vendor relationships, including, but not limited to sourcing appropriate suppliers in line with the LOB strategy, maintaining relationships with key vendors, manage training and knowledge sharing with staff and customers where required, ensure solid commercial arrangements and a competitive pricing policy and plan and manage strategic sourcing and inventory planning.
3. Sales
  • Ensure a healthy pipeline is developed using sound sales practices, including key account management principles.
  • Ensure orders receipt is processed, managed, and executed in line with customer expectations.
  • Ensure healthy margins are maintained and the value proposition is continuously updated and developed as the market conditions and technology offerings dictate.
4. Execution
  • Ensure the sourcing strategy is managed in collaboration with the Business Procurement staff.
  • Ensure that subcontractors and internal technical staff are appointed, trained and project execution managed based on sound project management principles.
  • Manage project revenue and revenue recognition in accordance with the business guidelines.
5. Staff management
  • Staff selection and appointment
  • Performance management
  • Contracting when required
  • Motivation, communication and culture management
6. Financial Management
  • Budgeting
  • Income statement, including sales, gross margin and net contribution.
  • Cash flow planning
Minimum Requirements
  • Matric with mathematics
  • An appropriate and suitable tertiary qualification in management, engineering, or finance would be an advantage.
  • Domain knowledge and experience in telecommunications
  • OHS legislation and regulations as applicable and Quality (ISO 9000:2015)
  • Advanced user of MS Office and/or Google Suite
  • Operational planning and scheduling
  • Knowledge and experience of the Syspro MRP or similar systems
