Job Description

The Department of Fashion and Textiles invites applications for a Lecturer position. We seek an individual with a strong academic background and industry experience to contribute to teaching, research, and curriculum development. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in interdisciplinary teaching and learning activities, serve on faculty committees, and participate in community engagement initiatives.
Minimum Requirements:

  • A completed PhD in Philosophy with specialisation in arts methodologies will be an advantage.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience at a tertiary level OR three (3) years of relevant professional experience.
Additional Requirements and Recommendations:
  • Proven research and publication record in the discipline or a related field.
  • Ability to lecture in both theory and practical modules.
  • Proficiency in Learning Management Systems for online teaching and learning.
  • Experience in interdisciplinary teaching and learning activities.
  • Engagement in faculty committees, faculty meetings, and advisory board meetings.
  • Evidence of community engagement and industry-related experience.
  • Commitment to presenting a research paper at a local conference within the first two years of appointment.
  • Experience in research supervision at Advanced Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma, and MAA levels.
  • Ability to promote research activities within the department.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach, assess, and moderate coursework at Advanced Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma, and MAA levels.
  • Contribute to curriculum development for Extended, Advanced, and Professional levels.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary teaching and learning activities.
  • Participate in research development and scholarly activities.
  • Serve on faculty and departmental committees, including faculty meetings and advisory board meetings.
  • Engage in community engagement projects aligned with the universitys mission.
  • Conduct research, supervise postgraduate students, and contribute to academic development.
  • Perform administrative duties related to teaching, learning, and assessment.
