Job Description

Overview We are seeking a skilledLead Patch Management Engineerto lead and coordinate the deployment of monthly 3rd Party patches across their environments, to join are team on a contract basis, working on-site at a customer location in Cape Town. The successful candidate will play a key role in planning, managing, and implementing corrective actions identified through a formal reporting process, in collaboration with and approved by the customer. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, deployment, and validation of monthly 3rd party patches.
  • Develop and maintain patching schedules that minimize operational impact while ensuring adherence to security policies and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor patch deployments to identify and resolve issues, including failed updates and system reboot challenges.
  • Ensure all patching activities align with agreed policies, NIST frameworks, and organizational security policies.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to evaluate vulnerabilities, prioritize patch remediation based on risk assessments, and improve overall system security posture.
  • Generate comprehensive patch compliance and status reports.
  • Work closely with system administrators and security teams to resolve any compatibility or operational challenges resulting from patch deployments.
  • Maintain inventory of third-party software across endpoints
  • Monitor for new patches and security bulletins (CVEs)
  • Assess risk and applicability of available patches
  • Test patches in a controlled staging environment
  • Schedule and deploy approved patches to production
  • Rollback management in case of failures
  • Collaborate with IT and security teams to minimize business impact
  • Support vulnerability management and audit readiness
  • Maintain documentation of all patch activities and SOPs
  • Provide end-user communication and scheduling for impactful updates
Skills and Experience Required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience SCCM, Intune or similar toolsets, with a focus on compliance remediation.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working with Power BI and Microsoft 365 tenant administration.
  • Solid working knowledge of networking, and operating systems.
  • 1 year experience in project management or project coordination.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, adaptable to different audiences.
  • Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a professional approach to service delivery.
  • Experience in IT compliance or regulatory environments is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Power BI.
  • Experience in administering Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 Security & Compliance Center and SCCM/Endpoint Manager (Intune).
  • Strong analytical and communication skills to interpret and convey technical data to non-technical users
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate (Power BI)
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals or Enterprise Administrator Expert
Additional Information The contract term and remuneration will be discussed during the interview process. Work Environment & Schedule:
  • Availability to work after-hours or weekends as required during scheduled patch deployment windows.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or other related degree and 3 years of experience or equivalent work experience
  • 3 Years Experience in patch management
  • Relevant certification such as Security+ or an equivalent credential is required.
  • Proficiency in patch management toolsets
  • Solid background in security hardening and vulnerability management practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot patch failures and remediate issues in complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
