Position: Lead Design Engineer - Electrical Works

Role Overview

Kurima is seeking a highly skilled

Lead Design Engineer - Electrical Works

to take technical ownership of electrical design activities across projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring engineering integrity, regulatory compliance, and high-quality electrical designs from concept through to implementation.

This role requires a

professionally registered electrical engineer

with strong leadership capability and hands-on design expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage

electrical design engineering

activities across assigned projects Develop, review, and approve

electrical design calculations, drawings, and specifications

Ensure full compliance with

applicable electrical codes, standards, and statutory requirements

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to electrical engineers and designers Interface with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams Support project planning, risk identification, and value engineering Participate in design reviews, audits, and technical sign-offs Ensure designs are safe, constructible, efficient, and aligned with project requirements

Minimum Requirements

Professionally registered with ECSA

or equivalent (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng - mandatory) Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification in

Electrical Engineering

Proven experience in

electrical design engineering

within construction, infrastructure, industrial, or power-related projects Strong working knowledge of

South African electrical standards

and relevant international codes Demonstrated experience leading design teams and taking technical accountability Proficiency in relevant

electrical design and CAD software

Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills

Advantageous

Experience in multidisciplinary engineering projects Exposure to construction support and commissioning phases Client-facing and stakeholder engagement experience Knowledge of power distribution, control systems, and building services
