Job Description


The Competition Commission seeks to appoint a dynamic and committed individual to manage internal and external information resources and ensure that all information is accessible to the Commission.
Reporting to the Manager: Knowledge Management, this individual will lead and manage the Commissionxe2x80x99s initiatives to implement the Information and Knowledge Management (IKM) strategy and its associated practices, processes and systems, which will enhance productivity and client service to all stakeholders within the Competition Commission.

A starting annual total cost to company package of R 977 036,51 (negotiable commensurate with experience)

Please note this position is available on a five-year fixed term contract.
(Renewable at the exclusive and sole discretion of the Commission)

We are looking for a dynamic, hardworking, and committed individual who meets the following requirements:

  • Postgraduate degree in Business Management / Public Administration / Information Systems / Information Science
  • A minimum of 5 years in an Information and Knowledge intensive environment
  • Proven project management experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Knowledge and understanding of the purpose and objectives of the Competition Act, the Competition Commission and the South African economy is highly recommended.
  • Track record in building, growing and running xe2x80x9cbest practisexe2x80x9d knowledge management programmes.
  • Specialised knowledge of Knowledge Management concepts, approaches, systems and processes.
  • Service orientated.
  • Coaching skills

Key Accountabilities

The main responsibilities of the incumbent will, inter alia, include:
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and management in the Division.
  • Manage implementation of the Knowledge Management (KM) framework and manage functioning of the Information Resroce Centre (IRC)
  • Manage the capturing of knowledge generated across the Commission.
  • Promote knowledge sharing, knowledge management practises and promote awareness on IRC and available resources.
  • Oversee practises in the application of knowledge.
  • Provide support to the departmental operations.
  • Provide input to strategic sessions in order to contribute to the overall success of the department.
  • Act as a representative of the Commission within the framework of the Competition Act when communicating with the business, consumers, employer/ employee representatives, and other government agencies.
