Job Description


Join Lactalis at our Bonnievale Plant in the Process (IWS) department with the main responsibilities is to manage and control the daily process cheese production process by managing the daily on the floor activities inside the Process cheese department to improve yields, reduce losses and to improve quality on process cheese products. Must manage the ordering process of raw materials from different areas and departments such as external plants, other Lactalis plants, re-works areas and stores. Successful candidates need to have at least 5 years' relevant experience within FMCG environment, must be able to demonstrate sound knowledge in dairy manufacturing. Must have at least 5 years experiences in a supervisory role. Be fluent in English and be computer literate with sound knowledge in excel.
Required Skills

  • National Diploma in Food Technology / BTech in Food Technology / or relevant qualification
  • At least 3 years knowledge in Process cheese production processes.
  • Cheese knowledge (product and manufacturing).
  • At least 5 years experiences in a management position in a FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • Computer literate Microsoft Suite.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such conditional formatting, data validation, and complex formulas.
  • Experienced in data analysis, reporting, and creating dashboards for performance tracking and decision-making support.
  • At least 3 years experiences on BPCS system.
  • Experience in departmental budget compilation, and management thereof.
  • Experience in management of Human resources within the production facility.
  • Able to manage and build a successful team.
  • Interpersonal understanding, organizational awareness and direction will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of CIP activities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong Root Cause Analysis Skills.
  • Able to apply principle of Continuous improvement.
  • Engaged with ambition to achieve.
  • Sound knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (including ethical and disciplined behaviour, safety, etc.).

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage the Process Cheese production processes on a daily period.
  • Do daily OEE and productivity control inspections.
  • Control process cheese production documentation for traceability and food safety improvement purposes.
  • Maintain productivity at the set target.
  • Do daily/weekly/monthly cycle count and explain deviations and losses.
  • Control and analyse Mass Balance in the Process Cheese department.
  • Control recipe price and usage.
  • Manage waste control on products and raw material.
  • Maximize recipe yields in Process cheese recipes and maintain good quality process cheese products.
  • Budget control and implementing sporadic corrective actions to execute losses.
  • Analyse production results on a continuous basis with the aim to meet or better the goals on quality, quantityand productivity.
  • Ensure that work requests (job cards) for maintenance are carried out.
  • Lead, coach, and discipline subordinates when necessary.
  • Manage the department through the BPCS system reports.
  • Deliver yields, budget results and Savings plan results on a monthly period.
  • Ensure that goals on quality, food safety and HACCP are met.
  • Participate in official programs such as Continuous improvement, as required by the company.
  • Maintain food safety systems.
  • Ensure that all administrative duties (control and check sheets) are completed as required.
  • Compile and evaluate the Key Performance Areas of the people reporting to you.
  • Manage KRONOS on a daily basis.
  • Managing the production facilities according to Lactalis SA guidelines; ensuring efficient planning is done so that supply demands are met.
  • Manage the ordering process of raw materials from different areas and departments such as external plants, other Lactalis plants, re-works areas and stores.
  • Allocate and manage raw materials for specific recipes according to specific results of the raw material.
  • Monitor all raw materials results such as moist, fat, protein, salt and PH and collect them to different groups,
  • which will be used in different recipes.
  • Constantly do tests to improve on current recipes.
  • Change recipes to be very cost effective but not in a way to deviate from the required quality standards.
  • Using the Solver & Batch file system to book other raw material.
  • Manage stock takes activities on a weekly period, identify deviations, and investigate in order to correct deviations.
  • Improve Food Safety and Quality, to ensure all product adhere to the set standards.
  • Safety overall you must be driven to ensure a safe workplace for all personal.
  • Monitor recipes to ensure the correct dry and raw materials are used.
  • Calibration of equipment must be done regularly to ensure accurate measures.
  • Drive HACCP, ISO standards and adhere to rule and regulations.
  • Training people on all levels to ensure they understand the recipes and how to use it on each shift.
  • Monitor results of previous shifts to ensure they are within the set standards.
  • Monitor people reporting to you, set their targets and goals according to Lactalis standards and monitor them.
  • Monitor overall cost on recipes & raw material and losses and costs.
  • Input to setup budget on a 6 to 12 months base.
  • Set up new procedures for equipment which will help people to do their work 100%
  • Coordinate & update action plans.
  • Perform root cause analyse.
  • Drive continuous improvement on safety, quality, cost and delivery.
  • Daily/Weekly reports on yields & KPIs.
