To support the Logistics Supervisor in the day-to-day management of warehouse and distribution activities at the Nelspruit branch. This role ensures the execution of critical warehouse processes including health and safety compliance, cycle counts, dispatch and receiving checks, forklift and vehicle inspections, and housekeeping standards. The Assistant Logistics Supervisor also plays a key leadership role on the floor to uphold team discipline, accuracy, and operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations Support
Assist with daily coordination of dispatch, receiving, and internal warehouse movement.
Physically check all goods received against supplier documents and internal POs.
Oversee the loading process each morning to ensure all goods are checked and accounted for before dispatch.
Maintain operational flow in line with stock rotation, bin location accuracy, and FIFO principles.
Stock Control & Cycle Counts
Lead the execution of daily cycle counts as per the logistics plan.
Investigate all variances and submit detailed variance reports to the Logistics Supervisor with root causes and corrective actions.
Promote ownership of stock accuracy among team members.
Health & Safety, FSSC & Compliance
Conduct daily toolbox talks and ensure attendance is recorded.
Complete and file daily forklift checklists and vehicle inspection sheets.
Maintain all safety files, registers, and checklists in line with Health & Safety and FSSC standards.
Ensure full compliance with all safety procedures and proactively address risks or non-compliance.
Support preparation for internal and external audits.
People Leadership & Discipline
Support the Logistics Supervisor in daily staff oversight, timekeeping, and task execution.
Uphold discipline and teamwork standards on the warehouse floor.
Provide on-the-job coaching and corrective action as needed.
Housekeeping & Warehouse Standards
Conduct daily housekeeping inspections and ensure the warehouse is clean, safe, and audit-ready.
Monitor and enforce segregation of stock, correct labelling, and racking safety.
Ensure all required documentation is properly completed, filed, and accessible.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
Matric / Grade 12 (compulsory)
A relevant post-matric qualification in logistics, supply chain, or warehouse management will be an advantage.
Experience:
2-4 years of warehouse or logistics experience, ideally in FMCG or similar environments.
1+ year in a supervisory or team leader role within a warehouse or logistics setting is highly recommended.
Technical Skills:
Experience with cycle counts and stock variance investigation.
Working knowledge of FIFO, bin location management, and stock rotation principles.
Familiarity with dispatch and receiving protocols.
Proficient in completing and managing warehouse checklists, e.g., forklift inspections, vehicle checks.
