Job Description
Position: Junior Engineer
Location: Philippi, Western Cape
Direct Report: Production Manager
Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
- 25 years engineering experience in a production/manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of technical drawings, fault-finding, and equipment testing
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Proficient in relevant software and administrative processes
- Effective problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure with a high level of attention to detail
- Passion for sustainable packaging solutions and environmental awareness
- Provide technical process support for start-ups and ongoing production
- Analyse production data to identify issues and implement improvements
- Support machine reliability and quality control efforts
- Manage technical equipment and inventory
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and food safety standards (FSSC)
- Train operational staff on equipment use and best practices
- Participate in the implementation of new systems and engineering tools
- Maintain documentation of processes and changes
- Promote continuous improvement and support a safe working environment
