Position: Technical Assistant/Junior Engineer
Location: Phillipi, Western Cape
Direct Report: General Manager
Minimum Qualifying Criteria:

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
• 2-5 years' relevant experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment

Key Competencies:

• Sound technical understanding of process, equipment, and safety protocols
• Proficient in reading technical drawings and equipment documentation
• Strong administrative and organisational skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities
• High emotional intelligence and a collaborative spirit
• Proficient in MS Office and general engineering software
• A keen interest in packaging innovation and sustainability

Roles and Responsibilities:
Technical & Process Support

• Assist with technical research, process analysis, and equipment design
• Perform data gathering and reporting to drive process improvements
• Support troubleshooting and fault-finding activities

Project Coordination

• Track project progress, manage schedules, and support inter-departmental coordination
• Assist in resource planning and equipment logistics

Administrative Support

• Manage the GM's schedule, arrange meetings, and coordinate communication
• Prepare reports, minutes, presentations, and technical documentation

Inventory & Resource Management

• Monitor inventory of technical equipment and order project materials as required

Health & Safety | Quality | Food Safety

• Uphold company standards for safety, GMP, FSSC, and quality systems
• Ensure proper housekeeping and report any safety or process-related issues

Self-Development & General Support

• Continuously grow your technical knowledge and soft skills
• Lead by example and support cross-functional teams as needed
