Are you detail-driven, energetic, and eager to kickstart your finance career in a hands-on environment? We're offering a 3-year paid internship for a motivated Junior Bookkeeper to gain real-world accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
This is a full-time opportunity to join a dynamic, small team, where your growth and contribution will be noticed and supported from day one.
Key Responsibilities
As part of our finance team, you'll support both routine bookkeeping functions and broader accounting projects. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys solving problems, digging into detail, and working collaboratively.
1. Daily & Weekly Tasks:
Capture and process supplier invoices and customer receipts
Maintain and reconcile petty cash and bank accounts
Perform day-to-day processing of accounts payable and receivable
Monitor overdue accounts and assist with debtors follow-up
2. Monthly & Periodic Tasks:
Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and reports
Reconcile all general ledger accounts and trial balance
Prepare and support VAT calculations and submissions
Assist with payroll data preparation and submission
3. Investigative & Project-Based Tasks:
Support accounting catch-up projects, including backlog cleanup and corrections
Participate in investigative financial projects to identify and resolve variances or irregularities
Contribute to documentation and improvement of financial systems and processes
4. Team & Admin Support:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
Assist with preparation for audits and internal reviews
Liaise with suppliers and service providers
Collaborate with the senior accountant and team on ad-hoc finance and admin tasks
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum Requirements:
A completed qualification in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or Finance (NQF Level 6+)
1-2 years' relevant experience (internships, part-time roles, or volunteer work count) beneficial
Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Sage and Pastel).
Applicants should not have participated in a SETA-funded program in the past two years.
