To provide efficient solutions to the development of processes and products, ranging from small component designs to extremely large plant, machinery, or vehicles.
Qualifications

• BSC Engineering (Mechanical)/ B. Tech Engineering (E)

Experience

• 1 - 3 years demonstrated experience as a Junior mechanical engineer

• Experience in a manufacturing environment

• Project management certificate

Duties

To design and implement cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety and reliability.
To manage projects using engineering principles and techniques and develop project-specifications with colleagues, often including those from other engineering disciplines and other professionals, within and outside the engineering sector.
To develop, test and evaluate theoretical designs and produce details of specifications and outline designs.
To discuss and solve complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers.
To make sure the product can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments.
To recommend modifications following prototype test results.
To use research, analytical, conceptual and planning skills, particularly mathematical modelling and computer-aided design.
To define, develop and implement policies, procedures and processes to ensure process excellence and continual process improvement.
To ensures that all the requirements of the Mine Health and Safety Act, OHS Act, and statutory requirements within the department/remit thus ensuring effective management of SHERQ and adherence to stipulated disciplines for continuous improvement of occupational Safety, Health, Environment, Risk and Quality that impact on any organisation.

Job Related Knowledge

Engineering and Technology xe2x80x94 Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
(D) Mathematics xe2x80x94 Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
(D) Design xe2x80x94 Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
(D) Mechanical xe2x80x94 Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
(D) Project Management (D)
Knowledge of mining environment (Underground) (D).

Job Related Skills:

A high level of technical and scientific knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to practical problems
Good oral communication skills and confidence in dealing with a wide range of people, including clients, contractors, designers, directors and plant operators
Precise and concise written communication skills
IT skills, particularly computer-aided design
Ms Office ( Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Email)
