Job Description

My client a leading and well-known company based in Cape Town CBD requires a competent Jnr DTP Operator to join their team.
Purpose of the Job
To be able to perform accurate DTP make-up, layout and pre-flighting of PDFs while using the
in-house workflow systems/programmes within the allocated time
Responsibilities:

• Follow correct job brief from Manager-Briefing may include client instructions.
• Read & understand work ticket before performing the task at hand from brief supplied to make-up and supply high-res pdf using the agreed workflow - APOGEE X system.
• Ensure Job complies with Company & ISO standards.
• Supply electronic proof for client to approve artwork web approval
• Verify compliance to standards / briefing understanding changes to each job apply corrections accordingly
• Ensure that proof is signed before submitting jobs for production
• Ensure that the correct files are copied to the relevant production departments
• Ensure quality measures are in place paying attention to accuracy of colour, fonts, design elements and final sizes from the product brief
• Ensure that job is checked against b/w laser output to confirm accuracy
• Interpersonal relationship i.e. function well within the team
• Ensure compliance to legislative requirements eg; Company policies / legal requirements

Computer Maintenance and Housekeeping.

• Creates working folders within the server.
• Ensures artwork in server as per RMS number.
• Maintains system performance and integrity.
• Prioritizes work within the department based on Repro plan.
• Achieves daily output as per plan.

Must be able to:
Understand and setup artwork as per technical specifications and client requirements.
Using a variety of fonts, images, colours 300dpi, CMYK and spots.
Reviewing and amending images - Product proportions, working with FPO files, hires images and shutterstock images.
Skills in using InDesign,
Outputting files according to technical specifications,
Qualification

• A tertiary qualification in DTP/Adobe Indesign.
• Matric ESSENTIAL

Knowledge Skills and Attributes:

• Understanding of desk-top publishing skills
• At least 1 to 2 years experience in DTP

Essentials
Must know Adobe InDesign CS6, Acrobat.
Working on Macintosh platform.
Knowledge of Intergrator Workflow would be an advantage.
Knowledge of print and production would be an advantage.
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
