This role is based in Mokopane, Limpopo

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Effective management and expert support for implementation of best practice Security Services in the operation.
  • Continuously liaise with the Senior Superintendent/Section Manager on investigation strategy and policies.
  • Monitoring security indicators and trends in the Business Unit and identifying optimization proposals.
  • Utilisation of Security tools, techniques and methodologies and effective utilisation of resources to support business initiatives and needs.
  • Adhering to contingency plans to ensure that the operation is protected from risk even in adverse conditions such as strikes. Partake in improvement projects that will protect against risks in the operation.
  • Utilizing security technologies and approaches that would be effective for the operation.
  • Conduct investigations within the operation and identify investigations requiring expert advisors.
  • Identify opportunities to improve investigations within the operation.
  • Build relationships with the communities and local law enforcement agencies.
  • Develop a trusting and mutual respect relationship with internal and external service suppliers to the function.
  • Compile accurate reports related to the role and adhere to security policies and procedures required.
  • Support the training of PS members in systems and procedures to minimize security breaches.
  • Ensure accuracy of systems and information through the application of standards.
  • Effective administration of criminal investigations through to conviction.
  • Regularly audit crime investigation systems such as Case control registers, etc. and conducts surveys and audits to evaluate system effectiveness.
  • Testify in courts and hearings when required.
  • Pro-actively identify and analyse risks and threats and recommend counter measures to prevent re-occurrence.
This role is at a band 7 level reporting to the Security Superintendent / Senior Superintendent.
Qualifications
  • Grade 12
  • Studying towards a qualification in Investigation / Policing / Security / Law or equivalent
  • Registered with PSIRA Grade B
  • Firearm competent
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Security or equivalent environment of which 3 years should be in Investigation.
  • 1-year experience in supervisory position.
  • Knowledge in Investigation/Intelligence
  • Knowledge of security related legislation/policies/procedures/standards and Voluntary Principles on
  • Security and Human Rights (VPSHR)
  • Understanding of SAP system
  • Advanced skills in handling of and protecting the crime scene.
  • Advance skills in presentation and handling of evidence in court/disciplinary hearing.
  • Proficient skills in responding to violent crimes for investigation purposes.
  • Proficient in emergency preparedness and response to various situations
