Purpose
The purpose of the Area Manager role is to oversee operations within a designated region, ensuring compliance with company policies, operational efficiency, and proactive incident management. The role includes leading investigations, reporting, stakeholder engagement, and guiding on-ground teams to uphold service standards and security protocols.
Responsibilities
Hiring of all new guards and posting of guards
Ensure that all potential candidates have all the necessary documentation prior to employing
Ensure that all new employees are loaded onto the clocking system and had an induction session with HR
Ensure that all new employments are approved by Senior Management before new employee is issued with contract
Ensure that postings are attended to for dayshift and nightshift for all allocated areas
Responsible for all postings for all areas
Go through patrol reports daily and compile report of all missed patrols (Jhb and Dbn areas) - send to all managers
Staff Management
Ensure that all staff issues are escalated to HR, including hearing requests, warnings, staff on unauthorised leave and need for counselling sessions with staff
Ensure that supervisors are following rosters allocated to them
Ensure that supervisors are checking who is on site every day and night when visiting sites
Ensure that site posting sheets have been handed over to the relevant staff daily
Ensure that an up to date and accurate roster is on all sites at all times
Site Management
Ensure that the required sites are visited on a daily basis - at least 50% of sites allocated to you must be visited per day
Ensure that any incident or issues are posted on the group, and that the relevant parties are notified
In the event of an incident or issue at a site allocated to you, ensure that you do not leave the site until such time as the issue has been resolved
Communication between clients and managers is of utmost importance. Always ensure client satisfaction
You will be responsible to lock and unlock shops at sites in the event of tenants not paying rent
Vehicle Management
Ensure that vehicle inspection has been done by supervisors and that trip sheets are accurate
Monitor supervisors trip sheets daily
Ensure that supervisors are adhering to company rules always related to use of company vehicle
Ensure that weekly inspection of own company vehicle is done each Friday at 13h00 together with Investigations Officer
The company will hold all area managers liable for traffic fines incurred by them
In the event of a vehicle accident, where the area manager was at fault, the relevant area manager will be held liable to pay the excess for vehicle repairs
Staff Pay and General Queries
Ensure that staff receive their payslips timeously
Inform all staff that pay queries will be collected between the 16th and 19th
Ensure that all pay queries are given to payroll by no later than the 20th
Ensure that all pay queries for relevant sites are collected by the 22nd, and that feedback is given to staff
Training
Ensure that training is provided on staff operating procedures for every site allocated to you
Ensure that training is provided on site operating procedures for every site allocated to you
Ensure that training registers are completed for every training session with staff, and that completed training registers are handed to HR
Provide all training on site as and when needed for any problems or issues that might arise
Time and Attendance
Ensure that the correct information has been given to the relevant parties to update the rosters on any changes during the month
Rosters will be given to managers for relevant areas by the 28th of every month
Ensure that own actuals for sites allocated to you are done daily and submitted timeously
Ensure that the necessary changes have been made to the new rosters going out to sites, by no later than the 1st of every month.
This must include - leave; staff replacement; shift pattern changes if applicable
Investigations and reporting of incidents
General Queries
Requirements:
Proven experience in a similar managerial role, preferably within the security, investigations, or risk environment
Strong knowledge of incident investigation protocols and reporting frameworks
Excellent leadership and team coordination skills
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities across locations
High level of integrity, discretion, and professional judgment
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly
Relevant qualifications in security management, policing, or a related field will be an advantage
