Intern: Producer - e.tv news







eMedia, in proud partnership with MICT SETA (Media, Information and Communication Technologies Sector Education and Training Authority), is offering a 12-month Internship Programme for the year 2025/2026. The Intern will be hosted at e.tv Cape Town in the position of Producer Intern.

About the Job





The individual in this role is required to assist in producing e.tv news's 20h00 pm bulletin from Monday to Friday.

Roles and Responsibilities





Writing Content


+ Ensuring bulletins are concise, accurate, contextual, relevant, engaging, conversational, and in line with the channel's writing style.
+ Producing content for the live broadcast of eTV News at 8PM daily.
+ Writing stories in English to match visuals.
+ Editing visuals according to the story script.
+ Editing of bytes, interviews and overlay.

Researching

+ Conducting research on programming topics daily.
+ Checking various sources including electronic media and social media for articles of interest.
+ Identifying current affairs, sports and breaking news stories through researching, sourcing, networking and studying other sources.
+ Ensuring that archives are checked for specified and appropriate visuals when required.

Video Editing



Logging, digitising and editing material according to specified standards. Checking audio levels and picture quality in line with requirements. Grading videos and adjusting audio levels to the required standard. Adding run-ins and run-outs to all edits.

Requirements



Qualifications:


National Senior Certificate (NQF Level 4) - Essential Diploma in Film and Television (NQF Level 6) - Essential

Competencies:


Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Intermediate English language proficiency Strong attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring thorough and careful completion of tasks Ability to monitor and follow up on delegated assignments and projects effectively Commitment to continuous learning by actively seeking and applying new knowledge and skills Effective participation in meetings, considering the needs and contributions of others Good planning and organising skills to manage tasks and ensure efficient work completion

Additional Requirements:


Must be a South African citizen Must be under the age of 35 * Candidates who have previously participated or are currently engaged in a SETA-funded internship are not eligible.
