Job Description


Born out of a national convention to draft the first national strategic plan for AIDS, NACOSA is now a leading national civil society organisation working collectively to build stronger, more equal, and healthy communities free from the burden of HIV. We do this by strengthening community systems, mobilising and managing resources, facilitating networking and collaborations, providing and enabling access to services and advocating, learning and sharing widely.

NACOSA works at all levels across the country xe2x80x93 from international donor agencies, the corporate sector and national government, right through to sub-district services and small, community groups. Strengthening Community systems for NACOSA focuses on building networks of Community Based Organizations and Community Leadership

The duties and responsibilities of the HR Generalist will include, but not limited to:

  • Maintain and manage the personal records of employees.
  • Responsible for the onboarding of new employees and ensuring all documentation is processed accurately.
  • Monitor, guide, assist with the probation reviews of all new staff. Assist in the administration of performance management reviews and the administration thereof.
  • Manage employee relations topics as they arise and take appropriate measures to resolve all issues.
  • Assist recruitment from time to time with interviewing, reference checking where needed.
  • Assistant the HR Specialist with training activities when needed.
  • Provide training to staff with respect to Policies and Procedures.
  • Health and Safety management and the facilitation and completion of IOD claims.
  • Grow and maintain the employee wellness programme, which includes a range of initiatives for the benefit of the employeesxe2x80x99 physical, mental health and work-life balance.
  • Support Employment Equity and Skills Development Committee where necessary. Assist with administration when needed and represent HR on other committees where needed.
  • Manage termination of employee services and the exit interviews process.
  • Assist with ad-hoc day-to-day general administrative work in the Human Resource Department.
  • Provide guidance and training to management in general day-to-day issues relating to Human Resources.
  • Contribute and provide input into the HR strategy aligned to the NACOSA Strategic Plan.
  • Degree/diploma in Human Resource Management or related field although experience and prior learning will also be considered.
  • A Minimum of 3 yearsxe2x80x99 prior demonstrated HR Generalist experience.
  • Working experience in employee relations
  • Solid knowledge of Labour legislation i.e., BCEA, EEA, SDA, SLA, OHSA etc.
  • Intermediate computer skills: MS Word, Excel, Outlook and HRIS (SAGE 300) systems.
  • NGO working experience will be advantageous.
  • A valid driverxe2x80x99s license advantageous
