We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable HR Advisor with a solid background in South African labour law and HR compliance. With at least five years of hands-on HR experience, this individual will play a critical role in ensuring efficient HR operations, supporting both administrative and compliance functions, and acting as a trusted point of contact for employees and management. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost discretion and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Lifecycle & Onboarding
Draft and review employment contracts, offer letters, and onboarding documentation in line with labour legislation and company policy.
Coordinate induction programmes and ensure smooth integration of new employees.
Ensure all employee records, including contracts and compliance documents, are complete and up to date.
HR Administration & Compliance
Maintain accurate employee files (digital and physical) in full compliance with POPIA and South African labour law.
Monitor and update HR databases, reports, and records relating to leave, timekeeping, and employee movements.
Assist in the preparation of HR-related correspondence, policies, and legal documentation.
Support the HR Manager in ensuring HR processes are compliant with labour legislation and best practice.
Employee Relations & Support
Serve as a first point of contact for employee HR queries, providing guidance and escalating complex matters as appropriate.
Assist with handling disciplinary, grievance, and performance management processes in accordance with labour law.
Support initiatives to drive employee engagement, training, and development programmes.
Organisational Support
Coordinate HR meetings, interviews, hearings, and training sessions.
Assist in compiling HR reports and metrics for management decision-making.
Provide proactive support to the HR team and management on both routine and ad hoc projects.
Skills & Requirements
Minimum
5 years minimum,
preferably in a senior capacity.
Solid knowledge of
South African labour law
, HR compliance, and best practices.
Strong organisational and time management skills with meticulous attention to detail.
High level of integrity and ability to manage confidential information.
Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and HR information systems.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust across the business.
Ability to work independently, show initiative, and contribute as a collaborative team member.
