Head of Procurement

We are seeking a highly organised and self-motivated Head of Procurement to support our global operations as we continue on our journey.

About ARC Power

Since our founding in 2016, we have connected over 15,000 people across 14 villages to renewable solar energy, providing 24-hour electricity that transforms lives and fuels economic growth. We design, develop, and install both off-grid and grid-tied AC power generation systems (ARCs) and distribution networks, becoming the heart of communities and enabling families and small businesses to thrive. We are just getting started and have recently signed a ground-breaking contract with the Government of Rwanda to expand their national grid with a target to connect at least 400,000 people to first-time energy in the next phase and plan to expand this model into our other markets including Zambia, Mozambique and Tanzania.

About the Role

Based in Johannesburg, this hybrid role requires you to be in the office three days per week and work closely with both our local and internationally based teams, who are located across the UK, Sweden, Rwanda, Zambia, and Mozambique. Some travel to our offices across Africa and to conduct supplier due diligence visits globally should be expected.

About You

You have an excellent eye for detail, good interpersonal skills as well as the ability to understand and negotiate favourable contracts with suppliers. You have previously worked or studied in a procurement or logistics environment with some experience in developing and maintaining supplier and stakeholder relationships. Due to the technical nature of the items ARC Power procures, some understanding of electrical grid components and / or solar site materials will be an added advantage, but is not necessary as long as you have the willingness to learn.

Preferred Skills & Experience

Essential:


Bachelor's degree, similar qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Experience in a procurement role will also be considered. Proven experience working in international procurement. Strong negotiation skills with a track record of achieving favourable terms and conditions. Knowledge of international trade regulations and customs procedures. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to travel internationally as needed. Ability to consistently and diligently complete tasks without supervision. Ability to professionally represent the company at all times both internally and with external stakeholders.

Desirable:


Experience related to electricity grid and/or solar procurement Experience working with and for companies that operate in the Global South. Experience working with people who have English as a second language. An understanding of the logistics and customs requirements for countries in Eastern and Southern Africa, especially COMESA, EAC, Sadc etc.
