NviroTek Laboratories is an independent, ISO - 17025 accredited Agri-food testing laboratory group that has been a respected player in the industry for more than 15 years and currently has facilities in the North West as well as Western Cape provinces.

NviroTek Laboratories is seeking a driven, ethical individual to join this dynamic group as Head of Operations, responsible for all sites. The incumbent will be responsible to ensure optimum utilisation of all laboratory resources, to ensure quality and timeous results to our customers. The individual will be instrumental in securing the technical competency and relevance within the company in the current and any new analytical fields, which may be envisaged as part of its strategy. The position reports to the MD, will be based in Hartbeespoort, North West province and will be required to travel to other sites.

What you'll need:

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or National Higher Diploma in a relevant Agricultural or scientific field such as Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or Biotechnology.
- Training in laboratory management, operations, quality management, or related areas will receive preference.
- At least 6 years of experience as Laboratory Manager/ Operations Manager in one or more of the following testing fields: soil, water, plants, multi-residue levels, animal feed, food, microbiology, fertilizer, and compost with knowledge of analytical techniques followed.
- Proven track record of successfully managing an accredited, multi- discipline commercial laboratory/ group of laboratories.
- Experience in managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders.

Skills/ Competencies:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage variety of test and customer demands.
- Strong understanding of the broader agriculture and food- industries to contribute to the company strategy.
- Proficiency in operations management methodologies.

What you'll be doing:

- Responsible for operational efficiency and cost management:

• Oversee the planning and performance of laboratory work and operational processes which include chemical, physical, and microbiological testing, and reporting at all sites.
• Manage operational costs, resource utilisation, and supply chain processes to drive cost optimisation initiatives.
• Oversee that the laboratory information management system is utilised correctly and efficiently.
• Collaborate with Enablement, Research and Development and Quality Assurance departments to ensure seamless integration of product development and operational processes.
• Work closely with stakeholders to streamline communication and foster a culture of cross-functional collaboration.

- Responsible for operational excellence and process optimisation to support operational objectives

• Implement continuous improvement initiatives, lean methodologies, and best practices.
• Drive the adoption of innovative technologies and automation.
• Monitor the performance of existing products in the market and identify opportunities for optimisation.

- Responsible for compliance

• Assist to enhance quality execution and meeting accreditation compliance requirements with special reference to the technical requirements of ISO 17025.
• Take on role and responsibilities as deputy 16.2 appointee to ensure OSHACT compliance in the laboratories.

- Responsible for employee related administration.
- Member of the executive management team of the laboratory group.
