Job Summary This newly created position is offered in a growing, entrepreneurial, innovative and proactive projects driven Company which is a mechanical turnkey contractor whose customers are mainly in the commercial sector. This local Company was acquired by a leading Multinational a few years ago which has a footprint around the globe. The SA Subsidiary is medium in size, employs close to 400 staff, most of whom are in the field and includes Project Managers, Foremen and Blue Collared Workers. There is a newly created Subsidiary based in Cape Town whose business is to provide post-project maintenance as well as repairs & services to the Companys customers. The Head of Operations will be directly reporting to the local Companys Board of Directors & the Corporate Holding Company in Europe. The main role of this incumbent will focus on medium to long term business goals, developing and implementing strategies in daily operations, driving organisational vision, operational strategy and resource management. In addition, developing and retaining a strong and disciplined operational team and managing multiple Project Managers on multiple sites and control project execution. Key performance areas, inter alia, include: Implement operational goal setting through performance management and KPIs Oversee Companys operations and operational productivity and ensuring that projects are properly planned and executed within the set costing allowables Build a disciplined, responsible and accountable culture within operations and ensure effective recruitment, development and retention of Operational Staff Ensure compliance with international, national and local regulations and take appropriate action when necessary as well as analysing internal operations and identifying areas for process enhancement Implement business strategies and plans that align with short and long-term objectives developed in tandum with Executive Management Manage project profitability, cash flow and expense targets aggressively to ensure Shareholders targets for growth and profitability Monitor performance and take corrective measures when necessary and manage key operational aspects such as procurement, inventory and asset management Build and maintain trusting relationships with key customers, clients, partners and stakeholders Coach, develop and support co-workers. Requirements: B. Sc in one of the disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial etc.) or the equivalent in a Diploma and a business qualification would be an added recommendation. The candidate must come from a project background which may be construction, engineering or even HVAC and therefore have a strong understanding of the project management environment. At least 5 or more years experience in executive leadership roles and understands advanced business planning and regulatory issues including contractural liabilities. Able to execute complex projects and provide multiple project solutions to problems in the field and specific projects particularly as and when they arise. Able to set and implement processes for the whole Company across Departments, train staff and follow up on implementations. This will include experience in change management and high growth environments. Strong leadership skills, able to drive efficiency and productivity, lead a heterogenic team and transform into a homogenic team. Strong negotiator, entrepreneurial and commercially driven, who is able to mould a Company culture.
