Job Description


A leading pharmaceutical company is seeking a Head of New Business Development.

The purpose of this role is to advance an innovation pipeline for Hospitals (Medical, Pharmaceutical, and consumables requirements) that will leverage the company's business and drive sustainable profitable growth and market share improvement.
Core to this purpose will be initiatives around licensing, strategic alliances, partnerships, product & portfolio sourcing as well as potential acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procure a network of international suppliers via attendance at trade shows, internet searches and follow-up on email inquiries. Providing high-quality target, competitor, territory, micro and macro-environmental research and analysis.
  • Analyse trends in new products, new molecules, new ingredients, new packaging and new disease states to identify future potential/gaps for the portfolio.
  • Develop the business plan that provides a commercial argument (financial & resource modeling) for the launch of the identified product via in-source or out-source by working with the relevant supplier and the respective brand team.
  • Be able to xe2x80x9csell and marketxe2x80x9d effectively and market the company as the partner of choice.
  • Complete the legal and commercial documentation required to source the identified product and hand it over to the brand team for commercialisation of the product.
  • Analyse and review local and international markets, trends and data to assess the attractiveness of current and future categories/therapeutic classes.
  • Interfacing with senior business leadership as well as various other internal and external stakeholders, including the ability to present deal rationale and new business.
  • Develop, review, and report on the Business Development strategy, ensuring the strategic objectives are well understood and executed.
  • Meet with potential suppliers to discuss New Product opportunities.
Requirements:
  • Pharmacist / Business / Marketing / Science / Legal or Financial Degree or Diploma
  • 5-7 years Pharmaceutical/Medical or Healthcare experience with at least 2-3 years in a commercial role and solid understanding of the South African regulatory environment
  • Solid financial acumen highly advantageous (supporting feasibility modeling).
